This year’s winner of the Golden Graal Student’s Choice Awards as Best Young International Actor is James McAvoy, after Penelope Cruz, Gael Garcia Bernal and Joshua Jackson.
Due to his performance in Atonement, James McAvoy, the twenty-nine year old actor who starred in films such as The Chronicles of Narnia – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Last King of Scotland, was handed the Golden Graal Prize by Paolo Monaci and Marco Spagnoli– President and Artistic Director of Golden Graal, respectively. They met James McAvoy in London earlier in June, when he had just finished shooting The Last Station, a film in which he plays the role of Valentin Bulgakov alongside Helen Mirren, Paul Giamatti and Christopher Plummer as Tolsoij.
I am very happy to receive this award from the students who – and I speak from personal experience- are always critical to professional actors. That is what James McAvoy said in an exclusive interview which will be included in the broadcasting of the Golden Graal prize-giving ceremony (held in Rome at Auditorium Conciliazione) within the late night programs on RAIUNO, on June 28th, 2008.
I was very surprised to receive such a proof of affection and esteem from students of a foreign Country, it was really unexpected and I feel very honoured. Also, I am most grateful to all the people of Golden Graal.
James McAvoy, alongside Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, is also protagonist of Wanted-Choose Your Destiny, which is going to be released on July 2nd, 2008 by Universal.
